What Type of Assessment do you Want to Perform?

You can set up assessment templates for each type of assessment you want to perform, for example, job skill assessments for Scaffolders, Engineers at Grade 1, Junior Typist, and so on. By measuring competencies grouped into an assessment (for example, a Managerial or Engineering assessment), you focus attention on behaviors and the ability of an individual to get things done.

Another decision that you need to take is whether you want to perform proficiency or performance assessments. A proficiency assessment measures the expectation of the level to which a person exhibits a competence. For example, in an Engineering Grade 1 assessment you might assess that a person is proficient at using a drill, or that a person is proficient at drilling a hole. You also set future expectations, for example, that within the next 6 months, they will have achieved proficiency in milling. A performance assessment measures whether the person has achieved the proficiency, for example, can they drill well or not. You can also rank performance, for example, on a scale of 1-5.

You can create assessment templates for:

Because some enterprises will want to carry out performance assessments only (just rating that a person has achieved a specific competence), while other enterprises will want to carry out two step processes (proficiency assessments to set expectations first before assessing performance), Oracle Human Resources enables you to assess proficiency and performance, in a two stage process.

What Do You See?

By identifying the type of assessment you are performing in the template, users of the Web assessment pages only get the headings and fields to complete appropriate to that type of assessment. For example, if you want to create an assessment template for a Scaffolder, of the type Proficiency, they might get the following headings and fields to complete on the assessment Web page:

If you want to create an assessment template for a Scaffolder, of the type Proficiency and Performance, with Weighting applied to Performance, users might get the following headings and fields to complete:
